Happy Holidays! ...And don't forget to recycle!

Happy Holidays everybody from your Hippy Gourmet family!  We hope your lives are filled with yummy organic foods, that your guests arrive in carpools and that you're using biodegradable utensils and plates for those bigger parties!

Then a special shout out to soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan who are so very missed, and especially to their families who are holding everything together emotionally, financially, spiritually and otherwise...we wish for an end to all hostilities, having peace reign over war and injustice and that everyone can finally come home to loved ones and get on with their lives.

A few Hippy Gourmet post-holiday recycling tips:

Compost those scraps folks! If you don't already have a compost pile, it's easy to set up!

What to do with that Christmas tree after Christmas...?
It's estimated that over 33 million American homes will have real Christmas trees this year, and as much as we'd prefer keeping those trees in the ground and wish instead that people decorate a re-plant-able tree, or large indoor plant - the best we can hope for is to at least have the right way to recycle a tree.

Earth 911 provides a wonderful resource for finding the best local recycling zones for x-mas trees. Please go visit this link and simply discover the closest recycling resource to your home, so that we can hopefully keep millions of trees from being dumped in landfills.

There are also a lot of creative ways to recycle your old holiday greeting cards, with the easiest way being your regular paper recycling bin. That's why it's always best to support Green-facing paper companies whenever possible.

Have a great Holiday Season and New Year's, and we'll see you all on the other side of 2007!
